The intersection of emotional & physical health
There are periods in life when emotional and physical health become inseparable — during cancer treatment and survivorship, serious illness, caregiving, menopause, aging, or significant life transitions. In those moments, it helps to work with someone who understands both the medical and emotional dimensions of what you are experiencing.
I offer care through two distinct practices: an integrated nurse practitioner practice for individuals, and a psychotherapy practice for couples and families.
NURSE PRACTITIONER PRACTICE
Integrated Medical & Emotional Care
My nurse practitioner practice is for adults who want care that takes both their medical reality and their emotional life seriously — from someone who can speak fluently to both.
Within this practice, I provide:
Assessment and diagnosis
Ordering and interpreting tests, including those your other providers may have run
Discussing, prescribing and managing medication, including mental health medications and supportive treatment for symptoms such as weight gain, cognitive issues, menopausal changes, the side effects of cancer therapies
Practical guidance and coping strategies for genetic risk carriers, illness survivorship, menopause, chronic illness, fatigue, sleep, stress
Coordination and clear communication with your existing medical team when needed
Not everyone needs both medication and counseling. I'm glad to provide medication management on its own, working alongside the therapist or care team you already have. I also provide counseling that is medically informed — helpful even if you don't need or want medication.
Areas of particular focus include:
Mood and anxiety symptoms related to medical illness or caregiving
Cancer care and survivorship — diagnosis, treatment, and the long arc of survivorship
Serious and chronic illness
Hereditary disease risk — BRCA, Lynch syndrome, APOE/Alzheimer’s
Perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal changes
Aging and cognitive concerns — memory concerns, mild cognitive impairment, dementia
End-of-life support
This practice complements rather than replaces your existing medical care.
PSYCHOTHERAPY PRACTICE
Couples, Family & Individual Therapy
In my psychotherapy practice I work exclusively with couples and families navigating emotionally complex periods of life.
I work with:
Couples experiencing relationship distress or major transitions
Families coping with illness, caregiving, aging, or grief
Adult siblings and intergenerational families
Parenting during cancer treatment
Caregiver stress and burnout
Adult children supporting aging parents
LGBTQ+ individuals and families navigating identity, relationships, and intergenerational dynamics
I have particular experience helping families have difficult conversations around illness, caregiving, end-of-life wishes, changing family roles, and legacy planning before crises emerge.
My therapeutic approach draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and ACT and DBT-informed interventions. My style is collaborative, grounded, practical, and compassionate.
Fees & Payment
I maintain a private-pay practice to offer thoughtful, individualized care without the limitations often imposed by insurance-based models. This allows for more time, flexibility, continuity, and depth in the work we do together. I can provide a superbill for you to seek any available reimbursement from your insurance carrier. Please contact me for more information.
Services & Session Formats
Free consult — 15 minutes - for anyone considering working with me.
A brief phone or video call to discuss what you’re looking for, hear a bit about my practice, and determine whether we’re a good fit before scheduling an initial appointment.
Initial Session — 60 to 90 minutes
At our first appointment, we go over your current symptoms and concerns in detail, your past medical and mental health history, your family’s medical history, and your social supports and situation. At the end of this session, I share my assessment and recommendations — which might include medications, labs or imaging, health-focused counseling, coordination with your medical team, and referrals to specialists as needed.
Follow-up Integrated Care (Individuals) - 50 minutes
For patients whose care benefits from ongoing integrated medical and counseling support, we meet regularly to review and adjust medications, discuss labs or imaging, work through health-focused concerns, and coordinate with your other providers. Frequency depends on your needs — many patients start more frequently and space out as things stabilize.
Medication Management — 30 minutes
For patients whose care is primarily medication-focused — including those already working with an outside therapist — we meet regularly to review and adjust medications, discuss side effects, and refine the plan. For most, this is monthly once stable; more often during medication adjustments.
Couples Therapy — 60-90 minutes
Couples therapy sessions in my LMFT practice. Frequency is typically weekly or biweekly during active work, with longer intervals as the work progresses.
Insurance
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Superbills are available for possible reimbursement depending on your plan. Payment is due at the time of service.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, self-pay patients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before services begin. Estimates are available upon request.
Cancellation Policy
Because appointment times are reserved specifically for you, I ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and missed appointments are billed at the full session fee.
